The metropolitan area of Louisville is comprised of seven counties: Jefferson, Oldham and Bullitt counties in Kentucky, and Clark, Floyd, Harrison and Scott counties in Indiana; all of whose population totals approximately one million.

Many businesses are attracted to Middletown because of the low tax rate and the fact that businesses do not pay a Middletown Business License or occupational tax.
